Hey,
I have a pit/greyhound 9 years old
She is a wonderful people dog BUT…
A Crazy Animal Aggressive Dog
Hates other animals and wants to kill them
this makes for tough dog walks
just bought a walk your dog with love harness
works great for walking but as soon as she sees another dog
she still goes nuts spinning and pulling
will a prong collar work I am concerned she will hurt herself ??

Unofficial Photography Project

So I’ve tried a few 52 week projects. I’ve even tried a 365.  And I’ve failed to complete them all.  But what I have enjoyed is the photos I get out of them when I put the effort into it.  So I’m going to be doing an unofficial 52 week project this year.  I’ll be roughly using prompts from the “Creative 52″ book by Lindsay Adler as well as some “shot ideas” from Charlotte Reeves’ book “Dog Shots”.  I hope to essentially plan a shot then go out and do it.  I find if I don’t, I just do the same old, same old. Over and over and over and frankly it gets dull.  It was OK when Summit was growing so quickly as I was basically just documenting the changes.  But now that his growth has slowed down to a dull roar, I want to start capturing something a little different.

My last attempt at a 52 week project was two years ago.  The prompt was Colour and I loved the shot of Coulee that I got and I wanted to try and get the same photo of Summit.  It worked out perfectly.

Then seeing as we were out and about, we took some other colourful photos as well.

I’ve got a few more I still need to edit too.  I’m already glad I’ve made the effort for the project.  It’s nice to do something different every now and then.

FORMER INMATE WINS ANIMAL RESCUE $25,000

dunbar-dog-lgWhen Maria Dunbar of Toledo, Ohio was sentenced to two years in prison, she knew she’d hit rock bottom. What she didn’t know was that helping homeless dogs would help turn her life around in more ways than one.

While incarcerated at the Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW), Maria joined the Second Chance Greyhound Program, where she earned her Dog Training Certification. “It was there that my rehabilitation had begun,” Maria said.

In the program, Maria trained retired racing dogs to become adoptable pets. The work changed her outlook. “I learned to be patient, compassionate, and trustworthy,” Maria said. “I began to trust again, as well. I let my guard down for the first time in a long time.”

But once she left prison, she had a hard time. “I struggled to find the peace I felt when I was with the dogs,” she recalled. Soon after, her mother died, sending Maria into a downward spiral of sadness, anger and regret.

One day she found herself at an adoption event for Toledo’s PET bull Project. “I had no idea it would change my entire life,” Maria recalled.

I just challenged Pacelle, once again, to explain,…

I just challenged Pacelle, once again, to explain, in the face of what Vick himself admitted to doing, with vivid description to remind him, his promotion of the POS. I also reminded Mr. Pacelle that he disgusts me and makes me ponder how he sleeps at night. He won't answer, because he cannot. I can't seem to locate an e-mail to HSUS staff, but his blog contact address is: http://blog.humanesociety.org/contact?credit=blog_post_091415_idhome-page

Why not blast him today? Flood his in-box with Hate Vick mail. ;) Make him feel the wrath. HSUS needs to be put out of business, and Mr. Pacelle needs to hit the unemployment line.

I Don’t Look

I swear I don’t obsessively look for lumps on Lacey.  I do check out her feet and legs more than most I’m sure, but I don’t give her full body rubdowns looking for more lumps.  Regardless I think I’ve found another one tucked in at the base of her ear.  It’s just little and I’m hoping it will turn out to be a little bug bite or something and go away on it’s own but I don’t really believe that.  She’s been licking the floor a lot lately and we’ve noticed her bugging at her anal glands a bit lately too.  The latter is definitely not a good sign and while I’m not sure if the floor licking is related, we swear it increases when she has a tumour although she always does it a little bit.

Anyway, I’ve got an appointment for Monday. Keep your fingers and paws crossed it turns out to be nothing more than a paranoid dog mom.

Dog Chew Recall: Dingo Chip Twists – Due to Possible Contamination of Amantadine, a Human Antiviral Drug Used to Treat Parkinson’s

Dog Chew Recall:  Dingo Chip Twists “Chicken in the Middle”

Because this recall is a Class III recall, the company does NOT have to make it public.

The following is an excerpt and photo from Susan Thixton, TruthAboutPetFood.com, as she informs everyone about the NON-PUBLICIZED dog chew recall:

Dingo Chip Twists “Chicken in the Middle” Class III recall (not publicized) recall of a dog treat – “product may be contaminated with Amantadine, an antiviral human drug not approved for use in animal food.”

This recall was found on the FDA website Enforcement Report but not found as a press release (anywhere). The FDA told me “The FDA’s Regulatory Procedures Manual does not require that a company notify the FDA or issue a press release for Class II or III recalls, although we encourage companies to do so. Class II is a situation in which the use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. Class III is a situation in which the use of, or exposure to, a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
