Essley and I spent last weekend in Indianapolis, and I let out an audible squeal upon seeing tiny green buds on the trees there. Things still look pretty winter-ish up here in the Chicago area, but the little hint of fresh growth I saw over the weekend got me all sorts of excited about spring. In honor of the season of rebirth (after the worst winter I can remember), I decided to ask this month’s group of medium and large sponsors to tell me their favorite things about springtime. Their answers got me even more psyched for the warmer weather, longer days, blooming flowers, lush green leaves, and fun springtime clothing that is starting to appear. If I had to pick one season, I’d say I’m definitely a summer girl, but spring is a close second – and I’m thrilled that it’s finally here.

Every April 1st, us PlanetShoes folk kickoff spring with a day at our local farm, sorting veggies and prepping for planting season. It’s such a wonderful way to start the spring season, getting our hands dirty in the great outdoors. But of course, our absolute favorite part of springtime is showing off our toes! With colorful peep-toe flats, embellished sandals and classic wedges, we absolutely adore sifting through our spring shoe collection… it’s our perfect way to welcome sunny weather.

My favorite thing about spring this year is planting and tending to our natural dye garden! We have built a pond, a water catchment system, and planted every natural dye plant we can get our hands on.

3. KELLY FROM MUCHO MUCHO BUENO BUENO:
My favorite thing about spring is everything. All the rain/thunderstorms, the vibrant colors, bird watching, spring clothes, and people tend to smile more. I live out in the country so I love this small gap of time that I can throw open all the windows at my house and listen to records, feel the cool wind, and enjoy the pre summertime vibes.

As for me, my favorite thing about springtime goes back to what I said at the beginning of this post about seeing those tiny buds on the trees. Watching nature transform from a cold, lifeless, grey and brown to a colorful, lush, vibrant green energizes me. I absolutely cannot wait to get to spend more time outside.
Your turn! What is your favorite thing about spring? I want to know!
