Dogs queue too! A cute bichon, wrapped up for winter, at the Orange (telecom) shop in Menton.
Hitler feeding some roe deer, 1936.
Good thing these deer met the animal-loving Hitler and not Goering, who probably would have shot them!
I am aware that Western roe deer are found throughout Europe, but I most strongly associate them with Germany for some reason.
I picked up a pamphlet at a dog expo called “101 Things You Didn’t Know Could Harm Your Pet” from the ASPCA recently, and I’ll be running an ongoing feature listing some of these things over the next few weeks. According to the pamphlet, ASPCA Pet Health Insurance customers have seen bills of more than […]
Question: I currently have 5 cats…this past weekend one of them got really sick and was throwing up everywhere and every time she ate…the next day another cat started throwing up.
And now every day another cat is getting sick while the other ones have slowed down the vomiting. Ones that RARELY get sick…what could this be? I was thinking a stomach bug thing but I read they don’t get stomach bugs. I need help!
Answer: Thanks for writing in. When multiple cats in a household begin having issues like this, it is best to determine if there is evidence of an infectious disease–see your veterinarian with at least one affected cat to have an examination, body temperature and sometimes even blood work performed.
It is also reasonable to evaluate any food, treats or supplements that they may share in common.

And it has happened again. K-9 Kobus of the Omaha Police Department was gunned down yesterday. From the Omaha Police Officers Association Facebook page: It is with very heavy hearts we announce that OPD K9 Kobus gave his life heroically today in the line of duty. Kobus was on the scene of a barricaded gunman […]
So a pet photography chat group I’m a member of is doing a photo a day project. It started late so it’s “just’ a 350 project. But I don’t want to say I’m doing it. Because then I might fail and not finish it. Let’s just say I’m using the prompts as inspiration for now. Nothing more. Nothing less. :)
The problem with photo a day projects is you often end up with photos that you aren’t all that proud of and that you wouldn’t normally share publicly. The great thing with a photo a day project is that you are forced to try things outside your comfort zone and some times magic happens and you are thrilled with the results.
I’m not sure this last one is technically dappled but close enough. ;)
Inspired by her late grandparents’ love of animals, one teenager in Illinois is finding innovative ways to help her local cat rescue.
Sabrina Hoagland’s grandparents, Diann and Butch Hoagland, were passionate about giving back to the community and, like Sabrina, loved animals.
Although Diann passed away in 2010 and Butch in 2014, they made a lasting impression on their granddaughter.
The 17-year-old began volunteering for The Forever Home Feline Ranch (FHFR) in Springfield, IL because she was interested in helping to make the world safe and more humane for all living creatures.
As Sabrina became more involved in volunteering, she quickly realized the amount of work the organization puts in to helping the animals in their care and she wanted to do more.
Now that I’m (finally!) no longer forced to wear nothing but oversized tees, leggings, and maternity jeans on a daily basis, I’m feeling more inspired to get my wardrobe back in a good place. It will be a while before I’m pre-pregnancy size again, but it’s nice to be able to fit into more than the same two outfits. I’ve been pinning a ton of super cute looks suited for the winter months (because let’s face, it’s going to be cold in Chicago for at least three more months, and that requires layers), and I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you guys today, as seen above.
Which look is your favorite? What have you been wearing most this winter?
